City/State: Florence, Oregon
Location: Oregon coast
One of my own personal encounters happened in the fall of 2016; with my father, my sister, her then-boyfriend, my daughter and my newborn son.
My daughter wanted to go play in the mud with her new rain gear and I was getting “cabin fever” from being in our house for too long.
So we got our stuff together talked to my family and decided to go tromp around in the woods. We arrived later than intended, about 2 hours before dusk; But that was no problem, we built a small fire.
My son was about 2 weeks old and was sleeping soundly in the car seat, but needed to breastfeed. So, while I was feeding my son my sister’s boyfriend made a few vocalizations just messing around but nothing. After finishing, I decided to mess around and made one too; only a few seconds later there was a reply.
I was scared and excited at the same time! I waited about 10 mins & decided to make another vocalization; it was returned again, but this time on the opposite side of the road & closer.
That made me nervous since my small kids were with me. We talked about packing up; we put our fire out, gathered our stuff and just before we all got in our cars I did one last call. It returned the call, it was a blood-curdling scream and just inside the treeline.
We got in our trucks and drove away as fast as we could.
When we moved to an area off the coast located near Florence, Or would I have ever imagined that my 4 y/o would have a full-on encounter with what she described as a bigfoot.
We had moved to a 10-acre property that is backed up to the National Forest, just a few months earlier to live with my parents. We have a sliding glass door to the backyard that backs up to the forest about 200 yards from the door. It was about 8-8:30pm and just about dusk.
I told my then 4 y/o daughter that she needed to go to our room to get ready for bed; she came back out a min or two later. I asked her why she was still dressed and not getting ready for bed; she told me that she didn’t want to be in there because of the monkey.
My husband and I looked at each other puzzled, and inquired about the “monkey”. She said she saw something outside so she looked out the sliding glass door, it was hanging from one of the trees, and it fell out and was smiling at her, then it “tip-toed” down a small trail into the woods.
I know that many small children will tell stories and such, but she is not one to really tell stories like that. I had her show me which tree he “fell” out of; she showed me a play by play of how it happened. Thanks, Lynsi.
